"Health is not just being disease-free. Health is when every cell in your body is bouncing with joy"-Sadhguru
If you are finding yourself functioning on an autopilot mode or feeling out of balance you need to take a step back and prioritize your wellbeing, this includes your mental, physical and spiritual health.
As a result of Covid-19, there has been a shift in lifestyle for many of us. Many of us have embraced working from home and others are dealing with new social interaction dynamics. While this is the new way of living it is essential that we find ways to evolve as individuals from this current situation.
Here are some ways to stay on top of your game from home:
Include A Home-Based Work Out In Your Routine
Whether you are a yoga person or you like to lift weights, create a home-based workout regime. Of course, you don’t have to stick to one type of workout throughout the week, you can always mix it up to workout different muscle groups and keep it interesting. Take a short walk after lunch or while you have a coffee break. Set an alarm on your computer or phone to remind yourself to take an activity break away from your desk.
Declutter Your Clutter
Your home is an extension of yourself. When your home is clean and organized, you will feel more at peace in your mind. Spending time over spring cleaning can majorly reduce stress as the process itself takes away the elements of anxiety. So take the weekend to declutter your wardrobe, your home office, and your kitchen. You will notice a refreshing change in the energy flow within your space when it is decluttered.
Connect With Your Loved Ones
Isolation is the worst friend that one can have. Connecting with friends and family through phone or video calls is also a form of self-care, it lets you and your loved ones know that you are not alone. And catching up with people with who you really connect is always a wonderful idea. It can lift your mood, make you feel connected and loved.
Enjoy Your Tunes
“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”-Victor Hugo. Music can be very healing if you are open to listening. Connect with your favorite tunes, moreover, you can listen to your favorite music while you write your journal or you do your chores around the house as it is very therapeutic. It will help you preserve your memories and allow you to process emotions and feelings.
Meditate
I always suggest meditation in almost all my blogs. A 15 minutes meditation every day can bring about absolute positive change within one’s wellbeing. If you are not comfortable with the idea of sitting in complete silence there are many good quality guided meditations available on YouTube for free that you can use to guide you through your meditation. Including meditation in your routine can help you with reduced stress, increased peacefulness, and overall improved wellness.
Get Enough Sleep
Six to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep is absolutely necessary to function at your best. To achieve that ideal sleep it is necessary that you establish a wind-down routine. Create your own rituals to prepare yourself for bedtime. This could be having herbal tea, taking a hot shower, putting away your phone or iPad, or reading a book. Set a bedtime and find a routine that works best for you.
Most of the time when we are caught up in a certain mindset or so-called busy schedule we tend to ignore our essential wellbeing very easily. This leads to "running on empty" and could cause an eventual breakdown. No matter how demanding your lifestyle is but taking some time for yourself should never be a problem, rather it should be a priority.
